In this video Dr. Lorenzo Arce explain to us the experience he had with 2 patients that were seen in the emergency room because of acute heart attacks, these 2 cases could have been prevented and their cardiac catheterisms could have been programmed in a timely manner.

Dr. Lorenzo Arce recommends you visit the cardiologist once a year to prevent emergency from sudden heart attacks, an EKG under rest and a cardiac stress test, can provide enough information to decrease the risks of suffering a heart attack within one year.

It is beneficial to get blood work done, but these exams are not enough to evaluate the risk of developing a heart attack, however a stress test can last anywhere from 9 to 12 minutes and can completely rule out your risk of developing a heart attack.

Risk factors of cardiovascular disease:

  • Family history of heart disease
  • Hypertension
  • High cholesterol
  • Smoking
  • Diabetes

If the cardiovascular assessment shows, there is a high risk of developing a heart attack then a cardiac intervention is programmed in a timely manner, which is different than having to treat the patient during an emergency presentation in which the patient is at a higher risk of death. The doctor recommends this video and invites you to prevent this kind of situation from happening by visiting your cardiologist once a year.
