Obesity

Obesity is a growing pandemic that is driving the current public health crises worldwide.

In Mexico, during the 1990s, the estimated prevalence of obesity in the population was around 15%. Today, it is calculated that approximately 36.5% of adults live with obesity, with a higher prevalence in women than in men.

Our culture and current habits significantly contribute to the increase in these numbers. Modern lifestyles, work dynamics, and the high availability of highly processed foods have triggered a series of factors that progressively deteriorate our health.

People living with obesity face medium- and long-term consequences, not only in their physical appearance but also in their functional, emotional, and social well-being. Among the main associated diseases are diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia (elevated blood lipids), high blood pressure, heart ischemia, heart attacks, and sudden death.

Additionally, it is increasingly common to see patients with obesity experience a significant loss of functionality and mobility, often becoming dependent on wheelchairs, electric mobility devices, and even becoming bedridden.

Metabolik

At Metaboli-K, we focus on individually evaluating your current health status to determine the best treatment option to achieve appropriate weight loss, prevent adverse effects, and ensure a successful approach.

Who Are Candidates for Obesity Treatment?

  • Any patient with a Body Mass Index (BMI) greater than 30 kg/m² who has not achieved success through traditional methods such as diet and exercise, and who, due to special circumstances, requires an adjunct treatment to reach their ideal weight and well-being.
  • Any patient with a BMI greater than 25 kg/m² who is in the prediabetes range, has not been able to reverse this condition, and is at risk of developing type 2 diabetes mellitus.
  • Any patient who has experienced failure after bariatric surgery, presenting the so-called "rebound" in body weight, meaning the regain of weight lost after the procedure.

How Can I Know My Body Mass Index (BMI)?

To calculate your BMI, we need to know your weight in kilograms and your height in centimeters. Use the following calculator to estimate it:
